A Bahraini who underwent a sex change operation and was declared a man by a high court last week has complained that he still has an identity card which bears a female name.
The man now known as Hussain has an identity card which contains his old name of Zainab, UAE daily Khaleej Times reported on Monday.
“The Higher Court gave me justice, but my plight is far from over as the legal case to get my name changed might take some time,” Khaleej Times quoted the man.
The partially-blind Hussain has been on medical leave for the past two years as his company has refused to allow him to resume work until he is officially declared a man, the newspaper said.
The issue is also preventing him from joining a gym, the newspaper said.
