Midex signs up for SkyChain
by Edward Attwood on Wednesday, 25 June 2008
UAE cargo carrier Midex Airlines has agreed to be the first customer for Mercator's SkyChain Lite, a new end-to-end cargo reservation and business management solution.
SkyChain is designed to manage every aspect of a start-up or smaller airline's cargo management needs. Processes such as IATA's e-freight initiative are streamlined, and the system has the ability to process real-time financial information for cargo processes, thus increasing revenues.
"We were not looking for a supplier but for a partner, and we believe we have found a best-in-class solution with Mercator, who have a proven track record of development and have taken care of the implementation in a matter of few weeks," commented Jassim Al Bastaki, Midex's director general.
The SkyChain solution will work in conjunction with Midex's current track and trace system, which is currently being used for mail and courier services and will assist the airline's focus on serving niche cargo markets.
"I'm confident our SkyChain Lite solution will prove to be a great success for Midex," said Duncan Alexander, vice president of sales and market development for Mercator. "We will work together with them to further enhance the system to offer unprecedented flexibility, and the support needed to develop innovative business strategies with certainty."
