Kuwait's state refinery firm KNPC said three workers were injured at a limited fire at its Mina Abdullah refinery on Sunday, but that exports were not affected.

A KNPC spokesman said the fire had been extinguished and the refinery was working at full capacity.

He said the fire broke out in the afternoon during maintenance work at unit 19, adding that one of the injured workers had been admitted to hospital. "His condition is stable," the spokesman said.

State news agency KUNA said the fire had been caused by a gas leak and the accident was being investigated.

Mina Abdullah is the OPEC member's second-largest refinery with a capacity of 270,000 barrels per day. Kuwait is the world's seventh-largest oil exporter.
