Burgan Bank ups storage with HP
by Imthishan Giado on Monday, 30 June 2008
Kuwait's Burgan Bank has signed up HP Middle East to provide the financial institution with new storage and disaster recovery systems.
HP will provide the bank with its XP24000 storage system, which it believes will improve application availability by making data recovery possible within minutes. The XP24000 also provides disk-based replication and recovery of business application databases, with a flexible storage environment for future storage consolidation.
Simon Clements, Burgan Bank's senior general manager for operations claims the bank's continued growth and expansion strategy were the prime movers behind the new system.
"We at Burgan Bank required an upgrade storage solution to serve us better both from a local and a regional perspective. The new system provides us with a state-of-the-art platform from which to migrate and grow, while maintaining flexibility and efficiencies", he said.
"HP aims to help Burgan Bank achieve its targeted business outcomes through its large portfolio of the latest storage and data recovery solutions tailored to meet the ongoing needs of the banking sector," added Khaled Talaat, HP's country manager for Kuwait from the technology solutions group.
