FlyYeti suspends Nepal operations
by Amy Glass on Wednesday, 02 July 2008
Budget airline FlyYeti.com, partly owned by Air Arabia, will suspend operations in mid-July over political uncertainty in Nepal, the company said.
The carrier said in a statement on its website it would suspend flights in Nepal "in light of the current and ongoing political environment in the country, which has impacted the airline’s ability to renew its current aircraft leasing agreements, which are always subject to government approval and expire in mid July 2008".
The political uncertainty, combined with a difficult operating conditions in Nepal and a presently opaque regulatory environment, had led the management of FlyYeti.com to temporary suspend operations, the company said.
FlyYeti.com was only launched on January 20, 2008.
The airline said it will continue to closely monitor the political and market conditions in the country, and hoped to resume operations when conditions stabilise.
Based in Kathmandu, FlyYeti.com had provided services to Abu Dhabi, Doha, Kuala Lumpur and Sharjah.
