Mobile payroll trucks on site

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer on Saturday, 05 July 2008

In an industry first, C3 Card, a provider in the pre-paid and money transfer payment products and services, has allowed workers at Al Hamad Contracting Company to use payroll cards at labour camp sites.

The C3 mobile ATM trucks were used on labour camp sites at the Dubai Industrial City and at Al Quoz Industrial Area.

C3 Card officials said the move would provide workers with flexibility and freedom, ensuring timely salary payments through traceable electronic transactions instead of cash or cheque payments.

"This will give workers an opportunity for financial inclusion into society through their virtual accounts," said Mohamed Belarj, president of C3 Card.

Workers watched recently as the first labourer obtained his pay from virtual accounts via mobile ATM truck machines.

Ali Al-Nsour, camp manager at Al Hamad Al Quoz camp, which accommodates more than 2000 workers, said: "Usually when the 5-day pay rolls around there is panic, stress, sweat and shouting, but now the entire process has taken just three hours."

The cards can be used as debit cards at ATMs as well as at Mastercard points of purchase.

Its financial security and freedom provided by C3 Card in collaboration with Commercial Bank International can be used by the workers not just for withdrawing their salaries, but for their other needs as well. C3 cards can be used as debit cards at ATMs worldwide as well as at any point of purchase with the MasterCard logo.
