Abu Dhabi Basic Industries Corp (ADBIC), a state-controlled manufacturing conglomerate, will invest about $100 million to develop an aluminium rod plant in Abu Dhabi, the company said on Sunday.
ADBIC signed an agreement with Bahrain-based Midal Cables, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of aluminium rods and conductors, to jointly develop the plant, it said in a statement.
The plant will manufacture 150,000 tonnes per year using raw material sourced from the new Emirates Aluminium smelter currently under construction in Taweelah, ADBIC said.
ADBIC is an industrial development and investment company created to facilitate the expansion of sustainable industrial activity in Abu Dhabi through the development of industrial clusters, the first such model in the UAE.
