Staging equipment manufacturer Prolyte launched the second instalment of its five-day rigging training seminar in Dubai earlier this month.

The course specifically focused on promoting safe working practices for technicians and project managers working in the rigging industry.

The course was staged in cooperation with Rinus Bakker, managing director of Netherlands based company Rhino Rigs. Bakker is a respected industry veteran who has been involved in developing a number of rigging training courses over the past twenty years.

The course programme covered the basic theoretical rigging skills, including risk assessment, rigging basics, calculations, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), hoist technology and controllers, as well as a hands-on workshop and truss technology.

Prolyte's communication and marketing manager, Marina Prak, said the course had been designed to educate people about the appropriate use of trusses and rigging materials to enhance safety measures.

"Prolyte is a firm believer in education," Prak stated.

"Knowledge is the best way to protect our customers and users from hazardous working circumstances. It also provides a guarantee that we are helping our customers in the best possible way we can.

"It's surprising how much there is to know about truss or staging and it's essential for all technicians, who work in the field of rigging and staging, to have adequate industry knowledge.

"Essential know-how and technical background is imperative and specific training results in safer working conditions, shorter production time, increased efficiency and enhanced responsibility."
