Orascom reports $76.63mn revenue

Egyptian tourism group Orascom Development Holding said on Tuesday its total preliminary hotel revenue rose 29.6 percent to 409.2 million Egyptian pounds ($76.63 million) in the first half of 2008.

Total hotel revenue in the first six months of 2007 was 315.8 million pounds. The company said the increase came as its occupancy rate improved to 81.4 percent from 67.9 percent a year earlier.

The operational hotel portfolio of Orascom Development Holding reached 24 properties with a total of 6,025 rooms, almost 1,000 rooms more in the first six months of 2008, it added.

The company operates in Egypt, Morocco, Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Switzerland. (Reuters)
