Weather experts are predicting increasing levels of humidity in the UAE over the next few days, making life uncomfortable for residents and visitors to the region.

Although temperatures are due to remain at around the 40 degrees Celsius mark and not hit the 51.4 degrees recorded at Al Minhad air base outside Abu Dhabi recently, humidity levels are set to reach up to 80 percent, the Gulf News reported on Wednesday, citing a weather bureau spokesperson.

This pushes humidity levels towards the near-stress zone in the comfort index which is graded from 'comfortable' to 'high stress'. The higher the humidity, the higher the stress level.

The dust haze will continue to envelope the UAE till the southerly winds arrive, the spokesman said.

The dust is not locally generated and is coming from the northern part of the Gulf and partly from Iran.
