Oracle has become the first major software vendor to launch a line of applications for the iPhone.
The Oracle Business Indicators applications will take data from Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition Plus (OBIEE) and Oracle Business Intelligence Applications, Fusion Edition and push it to authorised iPhone users, allowing managers to receive alerts based on pre-defined parameters.
The applications are available from the Apple App Store, and are free to Oracle business intelligence customers. The application will provide data on business intelligence metrics in either graph or table form.
Oracle says that it also plans to make ERP approvals possible via an iPhone application in future, and will also look to extend its CRM applications to the iPhone as well.
Ed Abbo, Oracle Senior Vice President of Application Development commented: "Today's business executives and managers are highly mobile, and their information needs are too. We're excited to build out applications on the iPhone platform to support these highly mobile customers."
