Jumbo enterprise arm targets retailers

Jumbo aims to become a one-stop-shop for retail solutions.

Jumbo Electronics has inked a deal with Polaris Retail Infotech Limited (PRIL) to sell the vendor's Retail Exel product into the independent retail market. Jumbo will serve as a distributor for the product in an exclusive capacity throughout all of the GCC countries.

Retail Exel is an application suite designed to aid business functionality and help retailers manage key functions such as inventory. It is one of several products developed by PRIL, which specialises in software for retail industry verticals. Sale of the suite will be handled by a dedicated retail solutions business inside Jumbo's Enterprise Solutions Division.

"This relationship with PRIL will provide a completely new innovative and robust technology for increasing efficiency in retail for customers in the region with a reduced total cost of ownership," claimed Arvind Sahay, head of Jumbo's Enterprise Solutions Division. "I hope this alliance will boost our chances to be the one-stop retail solutions provider in the region."

Jumbo's enterprise arm is one of several business units that the company operates. The group still draws the bulk of its revenues from its flagship electronics retail division, which now encompass more than 30 stores throughout the UAE.
