InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the opening of its latest mid-scale UAE property, Holiday Inn Dubai Al Barsha — although the route to opening has not been smooth.

The four-star property’s general manager Chahnaz Gayraud said the pre-opening stage had been “challenging”, as originally only one third of the hotel was operational, but said the results since had been “amazing”.

Gayraud added: “My main challenge was with the contractor delaying progress, which was because of the shortage of labourers that Dubai was and is facing, but now we have overcome that”.

The 310-room Holiday Inn Dubai — Al Barsha, located on Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road, is scheduled to open after Ramadan.

The property will boast 10 individual restaurants including Thai, Indian and Arabic offerings, as well as gym, pool, business centre and meeting rooms.

Gayraud confirmed the property would be fully operational after Eid, and said she believed the hotel would be a big hit.

“After the grand opening, I am sure of us being the new icon of Al Barsha,” she said.
