Integrated data exchange will help GAC to speed up supply chains (ITP Business).

Logistics company GAC Dubai has rolled out the Boomi Integration Platform, to help it integrates its internal supply chain systems with a diverse range of customer and partner systems.

The Boomi platform, which was installed by supply chain solution specialist SPAN SCS has already enabled GAC to connect with its customer Nestlé, in record time.

The EDI platform enables secure communication of a wide range of document formats, including IDOCS, EANCOM, EDIFACT, XML, through various communication protocols such as AS2, FTP, HTTP, while preserving the document formatting. The solution has been designed to allow companies such as GAC, that have a large number of customers and trading partners, to integrate their management systems with customer systems, to create automatic data exchange with no need for manual processing.

For the Nestlé project, GAC's inhouse Warehouse Management System (GACware) was connected to Nestlé's SAP ERP to allow bi-directional information exchange between the two systems with no manual intervention.

Sudhir Kumaran, IT manager at GAC Dubai explained: "We needed an easy-to-maintain, cost-effective and value added application that would enable us to integrate with our principals and business partners, effectively and efficiently. In this process, we evaluated several integration platforms. Finally, SPAN provided us the Boomi Integration Platform which also came up a requirement on the Nestle project and gave us the right opportunity to evaluate the functionalities of the product. The system allows a bi-directional data-interchange between Nestlé and GAC Dubai systems using EANCOM messages that the application supports through AS2 communication protocol, eliminating complications related to data formats and transfer methodology."

With the Boomi platform in place, GAC will now be able to use it for other EDI projects, to enable easier data integration.

Kamel El-Ghossaini, business development manager, SPAN commented: "By allowing a smooth flow of information between Nestlé's system and GAC WMS, Boomi has perfectly met both companies' requirements for automating the process of Electronic Data Interchange, eliminating manual procedures and reducing costs. GAC Dubai can now quickly add or modify integration touch points with minimal support from our professional services team."
