The Pad, (or ipad) is the first cybertecture apartment tower Dubai has to offer. Tilting at a 7-degree angle, the 24-storey Omniyat development will have 231 apartments, designed by KCA International Interior Designers.

"The Pad has been designed with specific focus on the use of technology, to create comfortable and efficient homes for the residents. KCA's role is to make this vision a reality for The Pad's interiors," said a spokesperson at Omniyat.

In commissioning the architect of The Pad, James Law, KCA wanted to create something for the future - an interactive, technologically intelligent building, pushing the boundaries of architectural design, and the way people interact with their surroundings both indoors and outdoors.

"The project itself is designed on a neural basis - that is, each apartment will have its own control centre which will be linked to a server on each floor of the building. Fibre links will then connect these servers across the neural network with a master control at the base of the tower block," said the spokesperson.

In addition to the technology driven premise of the building, "The Pad's interior design is meant to be lively in colour and function where residents will be given the choice to mirror their own taste and even mood, through changing the lights' colours. The Pad will also allow residents to update their apartments with digital art of their choice."

Although The Pad will not be furnished, the interior is planned to be both futuristic and practical. The interiors will be trendy and lively in colour. It is also designed with extra storage capacity in designated rooms at each floor and will be fitted with high quality fittings and appliances.

"With the help of numerous iFeatures related to entertainment, communication and much more, life at The Pad will be easy and convenient. Sustainable technology will ensure that The Pad will stay cutting edge," the spokesperson added.

Models of The Pad's interiors will be ready by October 2008, and the anticipated completion date for the project as a whole, is the fourth quarter of 2009.
