Dubai Islamic mortgage company Tamweel posted net profit of 210.95 million dirhams ($57.43 million) in second quarter, more than tripling from the year-earlier period on growth in its home loan business.

Net income from Islamic financing and investing grew 169 percent to 210.77 million dirhams in the second quarter, the firm said in a statement.

The quarterly net income was just below the 213 million-dirham profit forecast of Shuaa Capital in a survey by newswire Reuters last month. (Reuters)
