PALME India is set to be the biggest event of its kind in the subcontinent in 2008, according to event organiser IIR Exhibitions.

In its third year PALME India promises to grow by as much as 35% under the weight of the sub-continent’s fast-developing infrastructure.

This year’s exhibition will extend over 4000 square metres of exhibition space and is expected to feature around 300 brands from more than 100 companies.

India’s booming film industry produces around 1000 movies annually generating US $1.8 billion in revenue.

The colossal growth in the film industry, coupled with India’s burgeoning live event and night club scene, has further attracted some of the biggest names in the professional AV industry to this year’s event.

The event, which will be held from October 3 to 5, at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, has so far attracted major industry players, including Harman Pro, Modern Stage/Philips Lighting, Meyer Sound and Coda Audio.

One of the major exhibitors at this year’s event will be Modern Stage/Philips Lighting, which have booked more than 450 square metres of floor space.

IIR Exhibitions said all of Modern Stage’s principle companies will be represented, ranging from Verilight, Elgin Electronics, Stark Illumination, Philips Lighting and Studio Due from Italy.

Another high-profile exhibitor will be Harman Pro, which has booked 100 square metres of exhibition space; six times larger than its space last year. In addition, Meyer Sound a high end loudspeaker manufacturer will also be a prominent exhibitor.

“To emphasise the international reach PALME India has gained, German loudspeaker manufacturer Coda Audio will be exhibiting directly and has reserved one of the new features introduced to PALME India this year - a sound proofed demo room,” said James Raffoul, exhibition manager for IIR Exhibitions.

However, while the Bollywood film industry is the central entertainment focus, the events industry also continues to record dramatic growth. With more than eight percent GDP growth, India’s main conurbations and resorts are witnessing a boom in leisure and tourism infrastructure.

To provide specialised platforms for both of these individual areas, PALME India features two separate vertical shows; Install India and Event 360, which operate under the brand umbrella of PALME India.

“This ensures that the exhibition caters to the industry in general as well as providing dedicated arenas for event specialists as well as AV systems integration companies,” stated Raffoul.

Helsinki based Innovation technology company, Fogscreen, has taken a unique approach to this year’s PLAME India opening. It will provide an impressive entrance to the exhibition through the installation of its latest fogscreen technology, the first of its kind in India.

First time participants to this year’s event will be French special effects company, Universal Effects, while Projection Design is set to combine the skills of both its Norwegian and Indian offices, by exhibiting the latest in projection screen technology.
