Within 24 hours of its launch, 1,200 people have applied for registration on car pooling web site www.sharekni.ae.
The initiative by Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has resulted in 300 memberships now being activated, which means they can now use the car pooling services legally.
An official of the Corporate Communications Department at the RTA is quoted in Khaleej Times on Thursday as saying thousands of people had been visiting the website, proving there was a huge interest in the concept of car pooling.
The service has been launched with the objective to end the practice of illegal taxi services and reduce peak hour traffic congestion in the city.
