by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer  on Saturday, 26 July 2008

US-based facilities management company Johnson Controls has picked up a contract to supply 18 York-branded YK-K7 water-cooled centrifugal chillers to the US $2.5 billion (BHD942 million) Bahrain Bay project in Bahrain.

The contract includes the supply and installation of what the company calls energy-efficient chillers to the development.

Bahrain Bay is a mixed-use development on the northern waterfront of Manama and includes commercial towers, shopping malls, five star hotels and residential townships that will cater to more than 25,000 residents.

According to the company, the award is its largest order of energy efficient chillers to date but it did not reveal the value of the contract. The chillers will supply about 67,500 gallons per minute of chilled water to residents of Bahrain Bay.

The order was made by Unicorp International Contracting Bahrain, the EPC contractor to Dalkia for Bahrain Bay utilities project. Dalkia is the facilities manager and district cooling service provider for the project.
