Executive partners are tasked with providing superior service to corporate accounts says Yaser Shan of Acer.

Acer has handed IT reseller Interact the task of helping it conquer the Egyptian corporate sector by naming the company an "executive partner". It becomes the second outfit to earn that status in the country alongside hardware dealer CompuServe.

Executive partners occupy a privileged role in Acer's channel network, enjoying direct purchasing rights and a tighter relationship with the vendor than transactional partners could expect.

"Executive partners are purely for the corporate business, and they can buy directly from Acer or from our authorised distributors, depending on the urgency of delivery," explained Yaser Shan, channel marketing manager at Acer Middle East. "The value addition of these partners is that they get to work closely with Acer to crack the account. Once the account is cracked they can then decide how to route the product."

Although executive partners hold the same direct purchasing arrangement as Acer's authorised distributors, they are forbidden from re-distributing products to the second-tier reseller channel.

Moheb Samir, managing director at Interact, admits the elevation to executive level means the company must deliver success in the commercial sector. "As an executive partner we are looking to significantly increase Acer's reach in Egypt's vibrant corporate market," he said. "Interact partners with global brands to bring innovative and state-of-the-art products and technology to Egyptian businesses wanting to compete in the global arena."

Interact's appointment comes at a time when investments from the government, telecom and financial sectors are driving the overall size of the Egyptian IT channel. BMI figures suggest the Egyptian market will be worth US$1.3 billion within the next three years.

Acer has also signed executive partners in Saudi Arabia during recent months, awarding Optimiza and Hasoub the job of strengthening its position in the corporate market.
