Drake & Scull wins Yas Island contract

Drake & Scull has been awarded the MEP contracts for the Yas Island Rotana and Centro by Rotana resorts. The deals are worth US $34 million (AED125 million) and the projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2009.

The firm will be responsible for the entire MEP works on the developments including air conditioning, power distribution, drainage, plumbing and firefighting systems. Both of the resorts are located on Yas Island, which will also feature theme parks and a motor sports racetrack.

Rotana Resort is expected to offer 308 rooms while Centro by Rotana will have 259 rooms. Yas Island is a US $40 million project by Aldar Properties and it is to feature beaches, shopping, golf courses and residences.

Khaldoun Tabari, chief executive officer of Drake & Scull said: “These projects are a great opportunity for us to strengthen our well-established presence in Abu Dhabi and to demonstrate our capabilities and experience in providing fast-tracked MEP solutions that are reliable, efficient, and cost-effective.”
