Bids invited for Kuwait oil pipeline plan

State-owned Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) has invited bids from seven Grade-1 local contractors by August 19 for a contract to build a new oil pipeline.
Running in southeast Kuwait, the pipeline will be 3.8km long. The engineering, procurement and construction contract covers the installation of the 20-inch-diameter pipeline complete with all associated civil, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, cathodic protection and corrosion-monitoring works.
The pre-qualified companies are Arabi Enertech, Al-Khadda International General Trading & Contracting Company, Almeer Technical Services (Atsco), Combined Group, Heavy Engineering Industries & Shipbuilding Company (Heisco), Mechanical Engineering Contracting Company, and United Gulf Construction Company.
KOC is expected to make the award by the end of 2008.
