More than 109,000 people in the UAE went to see the latest Batman move, The Dark Knight, in the first four days of it showing in the region's cinemas.
The Hollywood blockbuster has smashed all previous records held by a Warner Bros release in the emirates.
The movie has commanded the top spot in cinema takings after recording a remarkable 109,367 admissions in just four days and box office statistics show it is still going strong.
According to theatre figures, the movie has also broken the record for the biggest midnight show and the biggest IMAX opening weekend ever in the UAE.
The follow-up to the action hit Batman Begins, the film reunites director Christopher Nolan and star Christian Bale, who reprises the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne in his continuing war on crime.
Global interest in the film has been phenomenal, fuelled by the death of Heath Ledger, who plays The Joker, shortly after he finished filming the role.
