The father of Lebanese singer Suzan Tamim whose body was found in her apartment in Dubai last week has claimed she was killed by a hired hitman.

Abdul Sattar Tamim made the claim on TV before his arrival in Dubai on Saturday but local police say it is too early to come to that conclusion.

'We are conducting investigations and we have to verify all statements and evidence,' said a police source told Khaleej Times on Sunday.

Tamim and Suzan's brother visited the General Department of Criminal Investigation on Saturday where they met Khamis Mattar Al Mazina, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the police.

The police said that they are making all efforts to arrest the murderer and have arrested a number of suspects of various nationalities.

Before his arrival in Dubai, Tamim told Arabia TV that he had a telephone conversation with his daughter before her death and that she had disclosed some important information to him which could lead to the arrest of the murderer.

He said his daughter was not killed over any financial dispute, somebody wanted to take revenge and hired someone to kill her. He said that he will hand over some documents to the police, and called on the UAE authorities to speed up the investigation.

The body of Suzan Tamim, 31, was discovered in the living room of her Jumeirah Beach Residence apartment on July 28.

Her throat had been cut and she had been the victim of a frenzied knife attack. The night before her body was found, Tamim had a late-night gathering, with about 20 guests partying until the early hours of Monday morning.
