Four new flavours for The Taste Department
by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer on Tuesday, 05 August 2008
The Taste Department, part of the Jumeirah Group, has signed a license agreement with TECOM Investment that will see four restaurants open at the Dubai Outsource Zone in September.
The new outlets will include two of the group's existing brands, Sana Bonta and Bytes, as well as two new concepts, The Flaming Revolution and Rice & Spice.
"In two short years, the restaurant division has seen numerous Noodle House [outlets], Sana Bonta and Bytes restaurants signed, open and under development in eight countries in the Gulf region and beyond," said The Taste Department's general manager and chief taster Steven Grey.
"With a target to expand to 150 restaurants worldwide by 2012, our agreement with TECOM will further our expansion."
All four of the new outlets would be a good fit in the Dubai Outsource Zone according to executive director Ismail Alnaqi.
"The license agreement will allow business partners to choose from a marketplace of food outlets and restaurants within the free zone."
The new brand, The Flaming Revolution, is a fast-service rotisserie-style restaurant while Rice & Spice is a casual restaurant serving Indian, Sri Lankan and Filipino dishes.
Informal Italian concept Sana Bonta, meanwhile, has had a presence in Dubai since 2007 and is soon to sign master licence agreements in two locations outside of the UAE.
