Apple's hardware can now be bought online by UAE education customers.

Arab Business Machines (ABM) is looking to boost the volume of business it generates from the education sector by launching an online shop for customers desiring the latest Apple products.

ABM, which serves as Mac vendor Apple's exclusive representative in the Middle East, is hoping to get the store off to a busy start by tempting students and teachers with a 5% reduction on their purchases, while those who sign up to the Apple On-Campus scheme can claim a 10% discount.

The programme offers students, teachers, administrators and staff members special pricing on the full range of Apple computers, as well as select third party products.

The website, accessible at shop.appleme.ae, presents a new channel for buyers to procure Apple products, but will initially be reserved for UAE-based education customers only. ABM has not indicated when it expects to make the site available to customers elsewhere in the region.

By stepping up its efforts in the education sector, ABM hopes that the decision-makers of tomorrow will come to look upon Apple as their preferred technology brand.

"A new generation of students expects a learning environment that integrates today's digital tools, accommodates a mobile lifestyle, adapts to individual learning styles and encourages collaboration and teamwork," said Patrick Beyrouti, education manager at ABM.

In addition to managing the sales of Apple products in the Middle East, ABM provides consulting, marketing resources and technical support. It sells through a network of Apple authorised resellers and retailers in the Gulf, Levant and North Africa.
