Web launch for Air Arabia Holidays
by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer on Friday, 08 August 2008
Air Arabia Holidays has launched a high-tech website that will help agents either book pre-packaged holidays or dynamically package their own itineraries for clients.
Agents have back office access to the site allowing them to access inventory and offers and create packages that they can buy and then mark up before selling to customers with their own agency-branded invoices.
Air Arabia Holidays, which is the leisure division of successful Sharjah-based low-cost carrier (LCC) Air Arabia is currently planning a training schedule to ensure Air Arabia appointed agents, of which there are at least 60, are au fait with the system.
They will be able to enter their Air Arabia code to access the website immediately.
"However, we welcome new agents to register and start selling our packages," said Air Arabia Holidays operations manager Ejaz Shaikh.
"We want to get the message out that travel agents can book these packages because while they know about Air Arabia, they don't know about our holidays product."
The reason customers booked Air Arabia Holidays, said Shaikh, was the same reason they booked an Air Arabia flight - the price.
"We offer great value for money and even have clients travelling from Abu Dhabi to Sharjah to fly or go on holiday with us," he said.
The consumer-facing website, he added, would allow clients to buy packages, create their own and then book and pay online. They would then be issued with e-tickets and vouchers that they could print out.
Shaikh stressed, however, that the trade still accounted for around 30% of sales with the remainder channeled via Air Arabia's website, call centre or retail stores.
Air Arabia Holidays currently offers packages to 20 destinations with the top-sellers including Istanbul, Egypt, Alexandria, Cairo, Sri Lanka, Jordan and Nepal.
Prices start from as little at AED 740 (US $212) per person for a two-night stay in Muscat, Oman, including return flights and accommodation.
