UNDER SCRUTINY: Former Tamweel chief Adel Al Shirawi's dealings are being investigated by authorities.

A Minister of the UAE Government has vowed to fight corruption, ensure accountability and make business dealings as transparent as possible.

Sheikh Saif's comments came the day after the Dubai Government announced a crackdown on corruption.

Last week mortgage lender Tamweel's former chief executive Adel Al Shirawi and head of investments were named as part of an investigation for alleged wrongdoing, and Nakheel confirmed one of its staff was also being questioned by police as part of a bribery probe.

And the Ministry of Labour recently busted a scam involving officials who allegedly issued more than 3,000 illegal work permits.
