Dual-prize looms for Healthcare Solutions

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer  on Sunday, 24 August 2008

Dubai-based Healthcare Solutions looks set to win the dual tender of overhauling the IT infrastructure of Al Zahra Hospital, Sharjah, and delivering a matching IT system to the group’s multi-specialty hospital under construction in Dubai.

Having worked on a preliminary AED250,000 project at Al Zahra, the UAE's oldest private hospital, Healthcare Solutions is well-positioned to win the contract, said Unni Menon, IT manager at the Sharjah facilty.

"We are developing a system for the new hospital and at the same time we have tried to upgrade the current system that is running at Al Zahra hospital in Sharjah.

"Healthcare Solutions has a very strong knowledge of the Middle East health market and know in what direction the market is going in this part of the world."

Healthcare Solutions' IT assessment has been geared towards helping the hospital achieve Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation, said Preeti Bawa, an account executive at the consultancy firm.

"The immediate priority for them was establishing a clinical decision support system, which they lack, because that is the one that is most relevant for achieving JCI accreditation."

Bawa is confident that Al Zahra is now on the road to achieving accreditation.

"We benchmarked their clinical information system and then we identified the gap between that and their current IT."
