After the launch of Nickelodeon Arabia in early summer, Arab Media Group is back in the news again with yet another free-to-air channel titled Noor Dubai.

The Arabic-language TV channel, which is said to be based on the Group’s radio station Noor, will go on air from the first day of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Speaking about the channel, Abdullatif al Sayegh, CEO of Arab Media Group, said: “Noor Dubai brings with it a different take on community programming and on television itself. Our programming is designed to be positive, looking at the optimistic side of life and humanity, as opposed to the provocative or materialistic themes that are portrayed on the airwaves today.”

Programming will range from talk shows and documentaries to candid camera programmes like Al Hatef al Mutaharkesh, which will run daily from 19:00 to 19:30, and from 1:00 to 1:30. In each episode, the 12-year old host asks to borrow an unsuspecting adult’s phone, only to use it for hilarious antics that could land him in hot water, were it not for the good humour of most of his ‘victims,’ who cannot resist his winning smile.

Leish! Maa Um Khalid will be hosted by Um Khalid, a senior Emirati woman, and her young co-host Mona Khalil. The two women will present fresh and often divergent advice to callers who seek their wisdom on matters relating to child-rearing, marriage and education.

Maryam al Falasi, general manager of the Arab Television Network called the channel a “slice of Dubai life”.

“We have launched Noor Dubai for the betterment of the Dubai society as AMG continues to grow at an exponential rate each year,” she said.

Noor Dubai will be available on Arabsat Badr 4, Frequency 12169 Mhz.
