Abu Dhabi's retail heavyweight Emke Group has signed an MOU with Denmark's chicken manufacturer Rose Poultry to open a 50,000ft2 unit at Al Ain Industrial City, with AED 300 million (US $81.7 million) investment in its first phase.
The 100% Halal facility will have an initial capacity of 10,000 tonnes annually in the first phase, manufacturing value-added meats including chicken franks, burgers, kebabs, meatballs, nuggets, fillets and marinated ranges.
"Though we are one of the leading processed meat manufacturers with five units in India, this is our first such venture in the UAE. We are immensely pleased to tie up with such a great brand as Rose, which not only enjoys huge popularity among the local consumers here but also follow the most stringent quality control practices," said Yusuffali MA, managing director of EMKE Group.
"Being a UAE-based company, we are leaving no stones unturned to make this a model production facility," he stated.
The move to open Rose Poultry's first processing unit outside Europe is a bid to strengthen its current market share in the region and build on the longstanding business relationship between the two firms.
"Technically, this will be a state of the art facility, where in fact each packed product can be tracked back to the farm where the chicken or lamb was grown," said Arne Lolholm Jensen, director of Rose Poultry A/S.
The company now produces 290,000 chickens a day at its facilities in Vinderup, Skovsgaard and Padborg.
not only cater to the UAE markets but also to the entire GCC countries" added Yusuffali.
