Bahrain Air has signed an agreement to buy six Airbus A320 aircraft, a move that will increase the company's fleet size to 11.
Costing $459 million, the six aircraft will be delivered within three years, it was announced on Monday. The low-cost carrier began operations in February with flights to Dubai.
Bahrain Air, which currently flies to 10 destinations, plans to double the size of its coverage with the new planes.
Managing director Ibrahim Al Hamer said the company had 252,000 passengers in its first six months.
It launched services to Jeddah last month with three weekly flights, which will be increased to four from next month. In October it plans to start daily flights to Kuwait and two weekly flights to Dhaka.
