An Emirates flight had to be diverted after a violent argument broke out between passengers, it was claimed on Wednesday.
Saudi newspaper Al Iqtisadiyya reported that a dispute between an Emirati family and a newly-wed Saudi couple over which seats they should be sitting in got out of hand and forced the captain to take action.
The paper reported that the Emirates flight was from Frankfurt to Dubai, but had to make an unscheduled landing in Istanbul, where the newly weds disembarked.
They were returning to Saudi Arabia from their honeymoon in Germany, and were planning to stop-off in Dubai.
It is not known whether any action is being taken against either party in the dispute. Passengers have in the past been jailed for so-called air rage attacks.
