Abu Dhabi 'will be ready for F1 debut'

The man behind building Abu Dhabi's racetrack for next year's Formula One arrival says it will be ready in time.

Philippe Gurdjian, chief executive of the Abu Dhabi Motor Sport Management Company (ADMM), hit out at the whispers in motor racing that there may be delays on the development of the track on Yas Island.

But on Thursday, he told UAE daily The National that he had the target date of Nov 15 2009 fully transfixed in his mind.

Gurdjian said: “I don’t listen at all to what people say. We will soon be ready to answer questions to all the people who want know about this project.”

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be the final event on the Fi calender next year.

And Gurdjian believes the allocated slot was the ideal time to showcase all that Abu Dhabi and the UAE had to offer.

The F1 impact on Bahrain's economy has been dramatic. This year's race in April was won by Ferrari's Felipe Massa.
