Golf course design company Robert Trent Jones II has been appointed to design the new golf course at Salam Yiti resort in Oman.
Sama Dubai, the real estate investment and development arm of Dubai Holding, announced it has selected the firm to design its 18-hole championship course under development at the resort.
Farhan Faraidooni, executive chairman of Sama Dubai, said the firm had selected Robert Trent Jones II after conducting indepth market studies.
“The architects have been engaged to work alongside our masterplanners to maximize the natural beauty of the topography by developing an outstanding golf course as a core component of the resort.”
The course, which is being masterplanned by Halcrow, is scheduled to open in 2010.
The Oman course will be the second project by Robert Trent Jones II. The firm also designed the Four Seasons Golf Course at Dubai Festival City, which opened last year.
Outside of the UAE, courses designed by Robert Trent Jones II include Royal Westmoreland in Barbados, and Chateau Whistler Golf Club in Canada.
