VISA HELP: Private firms in the UAE will benefit from the new customer service centre, say officials.

A new customer service centre is being set up to make it easier for private companies in the UAE to process visa application for new employees.

The centre in Musaffah is a joint initiative by the Ministry of Labour (MoL) and Abu Dhabi Naturalisation and Residency department (ANRD).

The centre is up and running but there will be an official launch in about two weeks, Brigadier Nasser Al Awadi Al Minhali, acting director general of the Federal Naturalisation and Residency Department told UAE daily Gulf News on Tuesday.

He said: "Earlier, to procure a visa in order to employ someone, the firm had to go to the MoL to sanction the papers and then go to the ANRD. With the new centre, these procedures can be completed at the counters."

According to statistics provided by the ANRD, 412,869 visas were issued across the UAE between July 29 to August 31, of which 369,458 were issued in Dubai.
