Gulf Air has signed a major deal to buy eight more Boeing 787 Dreamliners, it was announced on Thursday.
The agreement was sealed with the Bahrain airline during a visit to the US planemaker's Seattle plant by Crown Prince Economic Development Board (EDB) chairman Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The deal will take the number of 787s on order by Gulf Air to 24.
The Crown Prince told Gulf Daily News that the upgrading of the Gulf Air fleet was an important strategy towards enhancing the status of the company.
In July, Gulf Air received two Airbus A321-200 aircraft from Dublin-based Macquarie AirFinance, a global aircraft leasing company.
Gulf Air also announced it had signed a three year, $14 million deal to be the sponsor of Queens Park Rangers (QPR), a club currently in the Coca-Cola Championship, the second tier of the English league system.
