Hilson Moran has won the MEP consultancy for the Tameer Towers project in Abu Dhabi. Buro Happold has won the façade engineering contract on the development, which is costing approximately US $2.2 billion (AED8 billion). Tenders for the MEP contractor contract works are currently being prepared.

A joint venture of Al Habtoor Engineering, Murray & Roberts and Al Rajhi Projects has won the construction contract for the tower. Gensler has been appointed architect and the structural engineering contract has been won by Thornton Tomasetti. The towers will be located in Shams Abu Dhabi, a new development on Al Reem Island.

Tameer Towers will consist of four residential towers, villas, serviced apartments, a private marina and a commercial tower. Foundation works are currently underway. Tameer Abu Dhabi managing director Dr Abdallah Shaaban stressed the firms are taking the challenge of delivering the product on time “very seriously” and added: “The alliance has confirmed the delivery date of June 2011 for the residential portion and December 2011 for the commercial portion.”
