Zain has announced plans to invest $364.2 million over the next two years in a bid to upgrade the capacity of its Kenyan network.
The work will begin with an initial investment of $44 million over the next three months, as Zain attempts to improve rural communication and upgrade its data system, according to a Reuters report.
"(The investment) will further improve the quality of the company's communication in rural areas," Zain managing director Rene Meza said.
"The new development is aimed at strengthening the company's state of the art network in high traffic areas."
Zain said it had already spent $470 million in capital expenditure since being set up.
