The UAE football team is facing disciplinary action after fans hurled plastic bottles at match officials and opposition players during the team’s 2-1 loss to North Korea at Mohammed bin Zayed stadium on Saturday.

The shocking behaviour is now being investigated by the UAE Football Association and the Asian Football Confederation is waiting for the referee’s report before deciding what action to take, UAE daily The National reported on Monday.

Police have banned the sale of water bottles at all future international matches in Abu Dhabi and will be stepping up security at Wednesday’s qualifier against neighbour Saudi Arabia to prevent a repeat of the scenes.

During the match a Korean player receiving treatment was struck by a missiles and one of the assistant referees had to dodge flying bottles.

The game even had to be stopped for five minutes after North Korea scored their second goal due to missiles being thrown onto the pitch by angry fans.

UAE nationals behaviour..in or out of the stadium

I agree with comments from both Josh and Salim. To those hooligans; the world is your oyster....why make a fool out of yourself!! this behaviour should never be tolerated let alone even contemplated!!! it is a shame that you have not learnt to win properly; for if you can learn to win one will always learn to accept a loss. Needless i am not surprised.....if it does not go your way; just be patient. dont throw your toys out of the cot. And the road rage that is carried out after games...well ladies and gents...just grow up .....Lets not have a repeat of one of your brothers who killed a woman because he could not get his own way.....Lets get our act together and show the rest of the world that the UAE is not a land for hooligans.

Hmmm, this never happened in our history at all.

But i know their feelings, Winning the Gulf Club last year was very positive to the UAE nations, But after that they started losing everytime on every international match.

Still agree with Josh that its a children behavior. and not acceptable for a huge event
Abu Dhabi Casuals

I see the Abu Dhabi casuals have been at it again.

When the result does not go the way they want - they behave like children.

The authorities need to come down hard on these so-called supporters.

They are a disgrace to the nation and there is no place for them at football matches or their behaviour on the roads after the match.
