Saudi non-oil exports surge 13%

Saudi Arabia’s non-oil exports rose 13 percent to 10.5 billion riyals ($2.8 billion) in June, the Department of General Statistics and Information said on Monday.

The department said petrochemicals topped exports during the month, followed by plastics, ordinary minerals and their bi-products, and re-exported commodities, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Non-oil exports to other GCC member states increased 25 percent in June to 2.52 billion riyals, the department said.

Imports rose by 22 percent to 32.3 billion riyals during the month, it said.

Imports included machines, electrical devices and equipment, transport equipment, ordinary minerals and their bi-products and foodstuffs.

The department said the UAE was the biggest importer of Saudi goods in June, followed by China and Qatar.

The United States was the biggest exporter of goods to kingdom during the month, followed by China and Germany, it said.
