Amazon signs deal aimed at Arabic portal bid

WEB PLAN: A deal has been signed with the aim of creating an Arabic Amazon portal.

Amazon.com, the world’s largest online retailer, has signed a deal aimed at creating an Arabic portal.

It has joined forces with the Saudi-based e-commerce service provider Taufeer.com to sell its products to customers throughout the Middle East.

The two companies are aiming to create an Arabic portal for Amazon, while alleviating some of the difficulties involved in the overseas shipping process, reported UAE daily The National on Wednesday.

Amazon will become available through Taufeer’s e-Channel service, which was launched last month.

Founded in 1994 in the US, Amazon launched as an online bookstore but quickly expanded to include everything from VHS and DVD films to CDs, computer software, electronics, furniture, toys and even food.

Amazon has independently operated websites in the UK, Canada, Germany, France, China, Italy and Japan.

The company reported a 41 per cent increase in net sales in the second quarter to $4.06 billion with international net sales jumping 47 per cent.

Currently, Amazon delivers to a number of Middle Eastern and Central Asian countries, including the UAE.

However, many problems have been reported in the delivery process, including delays of more than one month. The website does not facilitate delivery to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait or Lebanon.

Amazon to the Arab World

I'm Glad that Amazon have made their mind on us people of the Gulf, we can now buy from them direct from another company which is in the KSA.

But will the prices be same as Amazon.com? Usually Amazon do Lovely Promotions and sale many items in a very cheap prices. But some of them doesn't send outside the USA, so i did Bought an Address in the US from a parcel company and used it. Maybe now shippment will be much cheaper than this parcel company because they raised their prices for fuel reasons and now fuel is low and they didnt lower their price at all.
