The newly-formed United Arab Emirates Association for Dental Education and Research (UAEADER) is to present a symposium on tobacco and its link to oral cancer in October.
The event, to be held at the Ras Al Kaimah Hotel on October 11th, will target dental and medical professionals alongside current students.
The symposium comes on the heels of a number of high profile legislative changes by the UAE's government. Several of the emirates have introduced a number of anti-smoking initiatives, including bans on public smoking and establishing tobacco cessation clinics in a bid to cut smoker numbers.
The day-long event will feature speakers from the UK and India, as well as authorities on the subject from the UAE.
Practising healthcare professionals who attend the symposium will gain seven credit hours towards their annual continuing education quota.
Non-member entry fees range from US$33 for dentists and physicians, to $16 for students.
