Nokia rivals Blackberry with email solution

80 million customers will now stay connected through Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync

All Nokia devices that use the S60 Symbian operating system will now feature the Mail for Exchange mobile email application from Microsoft.

The popular email solution will also be made available out-of-the-box in future releases of Nokia Eseries and Nokia Nseries devices.

Nokia owners whose companies use Exchange can set up Mail for Exchange for free on their devices without paying additional service or subscription fees.

According to Nokia, 80 million Nokia S60 3rd Edition converged devices have shipped globally to date.

The decision will help Nokia compete on a higher level in the corporate smartphone market and rival RIM’s Blackberry, though it also has to contend with Palm, Motorola and Apple who already offer ActivSync for its smartphone users.
