A new survey by Motorola confirms that young adults in the United Arab Emirates are more dependent on technology compared to those in Europe.
Motorola's Millennial Survey analyzed digital preferences and behaviors of 1,200 members between the ages of 16 and 27 from France, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom and UAE.
Results showed that young adults in the UAE own more gadgets than those in Europe - laptop computers (80% vs 65%), satellite television (67% vs. 39%), video recorders (42% vs. 34%) and PDAs (31% vs. 21%).
“This survey is indicative that technology is central to UAE youth,” said Ali Amer, vice president, Home and Network Mobility Business Unit, Motorola Middle East. The full survey report can be viewed here.
Results also showed that UAE ‘Millenials’ had a greater influence on their parents choice of which cable, DSL or satellite services to purchase - 42% compared to the Euro average of 25%.
It’s also interesting to note that 74% of UAE respondents said they get frustrated with the speed of content downloads.
“It is clear that the UAE Milennials are demanding quicker access to the Internet and this is possible with the introduction of new technologies that ISPs are implementing – such as WiMAX networks,” explained Amer.
