UAE-based retail and distribution outfit i2 has broadened its distribution network into Pakistan.
The company, which has a presence in 22 countries in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, plans to cover most of the main cities in Pakistan through mobile points of sale, and other services such as i2 magazine, i2 club and i2 café.
CEO Abdul Hameed Al Sunaid said: “This expansion is an integral part of i2s’ increased development plan as our team has worked hard over the past year to ensure successful growth for i2.
"Pakistan is a huge market and we view it as having enormous potential; it is an ideal place for i2 particularly keeping in mind our strategic growth objectives and interest in untapped markets in South Asia."
A spokesperson for the company described the growth rate of the telecommunications industry in Pakistan as “remarkable” with cell phone subscribers increasing by 22 million from 2007 to 2008.
