READY FOR ACTION: Gulftainer unveils Momentum Logistics.

Sharjah-based port operator Gulftainer has launched a third party logistics (3PL) company to provide transportation and storage services to companies in the Middle East.

To support the venture, which will trade as Momentum Logistics, Gulftainer also plans to develop a flagship ‘International Logistics City’ in Sharjah measuring 700,000m2. The project will contain a number of ambient and temperature-controlled warehouses, repair workshops, personnel accommodation blocks and a food court.

“Although Momentum is not officially launched at the moment, we already have big plans for the company,” said Matthew Derrick, general manager of Momentum Logistics.

“One of the most significant is the construction of the International Logistics City in Sharjah, which will offer quality services to all clients, allowing them to manage their supply chains from a single location.”

Gulftainer plans to initially focus on the Middle East for Momentum Logistics, although the company will eventually expand throughout the world and compete with other global players from the logistics industry.

“We believe that it is now time to take service levels within the industry to the next level. Our understanding of the industry, coupled with our understanding of international service standards and expectations, will ensure that Momentum’s clients receive real value for money,” added Derrick.
