The Gulf's tourism boom

There are few industries that show more potential in the Middle East than travel and tourism.

And this month we meet the chairman of a company that has been one of the pioneers in establishing a travel and tourism industry in the UAE.

Salah Sharaf is chairman of the Sharaf Group, Travel and Tourism, a company set up by his father Ibrahim Sharaf, and one of the most successful travel agencies in the region.

Such has been the scale of its success that it has doubled in size in the past five years and now plans to diversify into hotel and open new branches in India.

The company is a fine example of one which has seen early on, the potential in a particular area of business - and has seized those opportunities to grow faster than the competition.

And its success in the UAE is anything to go by there is no doubt that it shall soon become a well-known brand name in the new markets it plans to enter.
