School and university students across the UAE have been given next week off to celebrate Eid Al-Fitr, the education ministry said on Wednesday.
All public and private schools and universities will be closed from Sunday Sept. 28 to Saturday Oct. 4 to mark the occasion, the ministry said, according to UAE daily Gulf News.
The labour ministry said on Tuesday that the private sector has been granted a holiday on the first and second days of Eid Al-Fitr, state news agency WAM reported.
Eid Al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, will start on Wednesday Oct. 1 for countries that started Ramadan on Sept. 1, according to astronomers, meaning most of the private sector will not go back to work until Sunday Oct. 5.
WAM reported on Monday that all public sector employees in the UAE will enjoy six days off work from Monday Sept. 29 to celebrate Eid.
