DB Schenker expands Dubai network

DB Schenker has expanded its presence in the United Arab Emirates following a partnership with BAX Global. The companies have established a joint venture, which starts operations as Schenker LLC from this month, with a team of over 100 employees in Dubai.

“We are now also able to offer our customers high quality end-to-end solutions from a single source in this important market,” said Dr Thomas Lieb, who as chairman of Schenker AG’s management board is also responsible for the company’s global air and ocean freight activities.

“As a member of DB Schenker’s worldwide network, Schenker LLC offers customers the entire range of logistical services. The current expansion of the harbour facilities coupled with the benefits of Dubai Logistics City and the international airport are driving the creation of one of the world’s biggest logistical hubs in Dubai,” he added.

Since June 2007, DB Schenker has been linking together the markets in Asia, Europe and the USA with its regularly scheduled airfreight services from Dubai to Toledo, Ohio, via Frankfurt/Hahn. The offer was designed to meet the special requirements of the electronics, automotive, machinery and apparel industries. In addition, Schenker AG has set up its own regional head office in Dubai that will manage and further expand the company’s activities in the Near and Middle East, as well as in Eastern Africa.
